Once installed you import the package as the name ``pyesgf``:

  conn = SearchConnection('https://esgf.ceda.ac.uk/esg-search',
                           distrib=True)
  ctx = conn.new_context(project='CMIP5', query='humidity')
  ctx.hit_count
